      After the death of her husband George PILKIN(G)TON the family business was continued by his widow Alice until at least 1795, she doing work at Burghley, the George Hotel (239) in 1788 and 37-39 St. Mary's Street (367) in 1793.

      The Will of Alice PILKINTON [sic] of Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, widow:

      "This is the last Will and Testament of me Alice PILKINTON [sic] of Market Deeping in the County of Lincoln Widow made this twenty sixth day of November One thousand eight hundred and sixteen
      I Give and Devise all those my two Messuages Cottages or Tenements situate and being in Saint Martins Stamford Baron in the County of Northampton unto my Brother James DOUTHWAITE of Grantham in the said County of Lincoln Gentleman and Jonathan M MILLER of Market Deeping aforesaid Gentleman their Heirs and Assigns Upon Trust that they the said James DOUTHWAITE and Jonathan MILLER or the Survivor of them do and shall sell and Dispose of the same Estate and premises so soon as conveniently may be after my decease and bring the same into Cash and divide the monies arising therefrom as hereinafter mentioned, but it is my wish my son Thomas PILKINTON shall have the first option and refusal of purchasing the same.
      I Also Give and bequeath unto the said James DOUTHWAITE and Jonathan MILLER All and every my monies and securities for money Goods Chattels Personal Estate and Effects (except the particular parts thereof hereinafter bequeathed To hold to them their Executors Administrators and Assigns, In the first place Upon Trust to pay all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Charges and Expences and all charges incident to and attending the Trust reposed therein and after payment thereof Upon Trust to pay the following Legacies and sums of money (that is to say)
      to James HINCHLIFFE my Son in Law the Legacy or sum of Twenty Pounds
      to John COOPER my Son in Law the Legacy or sum of Twenty Pounds the same to be paid them within twelve months next after my decease
      and to my said Son Thomas PILKINTON the sum of Twenty Pounds and all Interest due thereon in discharge of a Promisory Note of Hand given by my Son George PILKINTON to my said Son Thomas, And then divide all the residue of of [sic] my said Goods Chattels and Effects and the monies arising from the Sale of my said two Messuages hereinbefore mentioned into four equal parts or shares and pay three fourth parts or shares thereof unto my said Son Thomas my Son Jonathan PILKINTON and my Daughter CHARLOTTE the Wife of Thomas LOVELL in equal shares and proportions
      and from and out of the remaining fourth part or share Upon Trust to pay unto said son Thomas the sum of One hundred and thirty two Pounds and all Interest due thereon in discharge of a Promisory Note of Hand given by my Son Robert PILKINTON to my said Son THOMAS
      Also such sum and sums of money which my said Son Jonathan shall have advanced and paid at the time of my decease for and on Account of the maintenance Education or bringing up of my Grandson Robert the Son of my said Son Robert PILKINTON and after payment of the same then Upon Trust to pay the residue of and remainder of the said fourth part or share of my said Effects unton my said Son Robert.
      But my Will and meaning is that Whereas I have lent and advanced to my my Sons Thomas and Jonathan divers sums of money for which I have their respective securities I do hereby direct that the same securities shall be taken and considered as parrt of my Personal Estate and Effects in the division thereof amongst my Children and that my Trustees and Executors do and shall pay such securities respectively to such of my Children by whom the same have been given to me as Cash and in Part of the said fourth share of my Property so bequeathed to them as aforesaid.
      I Give and bequeath unto my said Son Jonathan All my Household Goods and Furniture plate and China which I may die possessed of
      I Also Give unto my said Daughter Charlotte LOVELL All my Wearing Apparel
      And I make constitute and appoint the said James DOUTHWAITE and Jonathan MILLER joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
