| 5 | Catling Emma 2147 655.jpg EMMA CATLING (1846-1882) "IN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE OF Emma CATLING, Wife of Edward CATLING, Who departed this life November 20th, 1882, AGED 35 YEARS. And was interred at Bicker Church November 23, 1882. Farewell husband, brothers, sisters dear, I am not dead but sleeping here; Short was my life, long is my rest, God took me where he thought best. Farewell dear husband, my life is past, I loved you faithfully to the last; Grieve not for me, nor sorrow make, But love my children for my sake. With the Family's kind regards." The Edgoose family connection is unknown. Original of this photograph believed to have been in the collection of Clara Harriet Strohmeier, elder daughter of Elizabeth Edgoose (1852-1944), of Aberdeen, South Dakota, USA in 1972, or of Elizabeth's niece Doris Harriet Riggall of Edinburgh, Scotland. Emma Clayton was born at Sutterton, Lincolnshire, in 1846 and married Edward Catling in 1869. According to the 1871 census of north of Sleaford & Boston turnpike, her brother William CLAYTON was head of the household, aged 23, farmer of about 20 acres, born at Sutterton. Emma CATLING, aged 24, his sister, was the farm housekeeper. | |||
