    • MARIA BROWN 1847 or 1848-

      She was born at Escrick, Yorkshire, the daughter of GEORGE BROWN (source: cr003c2378@blueyonder.co.uk).

      At the time of the 1891 census MARIA WHARRAM was living a Providence House, Naburn. She was described as a 42 year old widow, 'living on own means', born Escrick. Also present were her son MATTHIAS WHARRAM, a 22 year old farmer, born Naburn; heeer son THOMAS B. WHARRAM, an 18 year old chemist's apprentice, born Naburn; ADELAIDE E. EDGOOSE, described as a cousin, apparently only 36 years old (although born in 1851!), 'living on own means', born Northallerton; and a cook, a housemaid, and four farm servants (RG12/3896/8/9).
