Ellen Jane BENNETT was born at Northwold, Norfolk, on 8 January 1878, daughter of William BENNETT, farm labourer, and his wife Jane "late BENNETT, formerly West" of Northwold. Her mother Jane WEST married firstly John Flatt BENNET in 1868 and then William BENNETT in 1876.
