MARY ANN SHAW 1823-1911
Mary Ann, daughter of Robert SHAW and Ann [nee WALDEN] of North-End, Swineshead, was born on 1 January 1823 and baptised at Swineshead, Lincolnshire, on 3 February 1823. Robert SHAW was a farmer and grazier.

Robert SHAW had married Anne WALDEN at Sutterton, Lincolnshire, by licence on 3 July 1806. Anne was a minor with consent of father Wm.

Robert Preston TICKLER married Mary Ann SHAW at All Saints, Stamford, Lincolnshire, on 4 August 1847, just a few days after the birth of his son Robert EDGOOSE. Mary Ann SHAW was a spinster of full age and the daughter of Robert SHAW, a farmer. Her address was Scotgate, All Saints, Stamford, but her family farmed in Swineshead. Robert Preston TICKLER was described as a widower of full age, a chemist from Swineshead, and son of Robert TICKLER, cabinet maker. Witnesses were Robert SHAW, Susannah BARBER and Salome TICKLER.

From the Lincoln, Rutland & Stamford Mercury, Issue 128 1847:
"MARRIED. At All Saints church, Stamford, on the 4th inst., (by the Rev. N. Walters) Mr R. S. (sic) TICKLER, chemist, of Swineshead, to Mary Ann youngest daughter of Mr. Robt. SHAW, of Clock Cottage, Stamford."
Mary Ann TICKLER nee SHAW gave birth to a daughter Emily Hannah at Market Square, Kettering, Northamptonshire, on 5 February 1850. The informant Robert Preston TICKLER of Market Square, Kettering, was described as a chemist.

In 1861 12 year old Saloma TICKLER, born at Kettering, was at Villa House, Swineshead, the home of her uncle Robert SHAW. Robert SHAW was a farmer of 607 acres employing 12 men and women and 2 boys. He was born in Sutterton Fen in 1807 or 1808.
