NOTES & QUERIES:
There is a mystery here. In the 1901 census enumeration George PITTS said he was married. He wasn't. His wife had died in 1899. Later in 1901 he married Mary Ann JACKSON. In 1901 a Mary A. Jackson, aged 49 and born at Malpas in Cheshire, was enuumerated as housekeeper in Wisbech St. Peter. So far so good, but in 1911 they were living at No. 3 Short Street, Wisbech, where George had been living in 1901, and Malpas born Mary PITTS aged 54 was said to have been married for 10 years and had had seven children, all living, but none were living at home.
