GEORGE HERBERT RIGGALL 1883-1977 (Methodist Minister)
George H. RIGGALL (1883-1977) wrote this letter from 21 Hare Lane, Claygate, Surrey, to Michael James EDGOOSE on 1 May 1972. Surnames have been capitalised:
Dear Mr. EDGOOSE,
Thankyou for your letter of Apr. 28th. which reached me this morning which I am sending on to sister Doris who lives in Edinburgh. My Father married twice & his second wife a Harriet COCKER of Hathersage Derbyshire & was a widow before my Fed again. Of course I myself have many happy recollections of my step-Mother, the only Mother I remember as my own died when I was 1 1/2 years old. Harriet RIGGALL became the Mother of two sons and two daughters Doris was the eldest in the second family and now lives with her son Martin in Edinburgh. Martin is an "Advocate" her husband who died some years ago was a Doctor in Inverness.
Paul Rigauld RIGGALL was also a Doctor who lived in Grimsby now deceased.
Clara Valetta the third in the second family died about two years ago
Frank - a retired Optician lives at 12 Queen's Road, Beckenham, Kent.
I will not for the time being say more but leave the rest to Harriet Doris and Francis Edward R. to answer.
I was most interested to hear of the relationship as I know my late Mother was an EDGOOSE before marriage and lived as a girl at a village near Boston Lincs She was one of God's Saints I do know that.
Kindest regards
Yours sincerely George H. RIGGALL.
