  RICHARD HEDCOUS or EDECOUS "6 April 1366 Westminster Pardon to RICHARD son of RICHARD HEDCOUS of Quadryng of the king's suit for the death of OSBERT son of JOHN GUNHILD of Quadryng, killed at Quadryng, and of any consequent outlawry; the king being informed that he killed him by chance in aiding RICHARD, his father, knowing him to be in peril of death and well-nigh killed by the said OSBERT. By privy seal" (PRO Patent Roll 40 Edward III i m.31) "18 July 1367 Westminster Commission to William de FYNCHEDEN, John de CRESSY, Lambert de WESTON, Henry ASTY, John de REPYNGHALE, Walter de POYNTON and Nicholas de MORWODE, to make inquisition in the county of Lincoln touching an information that certain evildoers killed an unknown mariner at Fossedyk, Henry SHIPMAN, his servant, at Morkerhawe, and Osbert GUNNYLD at Quadryng; discharged a ship of the said mariner, anchored in the water of Fossedyk, of goods which should have pertained to the king; put up the same for sale and converted the proceeds to their own use; robbed the said Henry of a horse and other goods at Morkerhawe; robbed an unknown man of a bale of woollen cloth, worth £10, at Kirketon; and because he sued them for recovery of the balee, followed him to Navenby without the said town and slew him there; and that one of the king's bailiffs in the wapentake of Kirketon, who according to his office was bound to attach felons, permitted RICHARD EDECOUS the younger, whom he arresteted for the killing of the said Osbert, to go free,after taking 20s from him; took 40s from RICHARD EDECOUS the elder, who fled on account of that death, with which he was charged, and 5 marks from Alan WORTES, charged with the death, who fled td to a church on the same account; took Alan out of the church and restored RICHARD EDECOUS the elder to his own, and maintained him; took William MOLDE of Risgate and Roger DOLLES, indicted of the rape of Margaret PAAT, from the hands of Williaam M MORTON, by whom they had been arrested, for 100s paid by them, and permitted them to go whither they would; released John MILNERE of Quadryng, indicted of felonies, from the custody of the sheriff of Lincoln, for 2 marks; took away and keeps for himself a horse worth 16s which Richard BLENCHE been mainperned, having taken 10s from him on this account, craftily passed over to Geoffrey to help him in his defence, of the assize, for 1 mark, thus taking rewards of both sides as an embracer; and that by pretext of a forged deed made in the name of Richard REDE, of lands in Quadryng to himself and Isabel, wife of the said Richard, whereof Richard knew nothing, he ejected Geoffrey REDE, who held in fee, from the said lands, toook hihis goods to his own use, and retained the same until Geoffrey made fine with him by 5 marks; and that he has committed many felonies, trespasses, conspiracies, extortions, oppressions, falsities, damages, grievances and excesses against the king and his people by colour of his office."
