      In World War I he enlisted at Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, and served as Private No. 19709 in the 3rd Battallion Suffolk Regiment Labour Corps and later as Private 607491 714th Company. He died at the age of 43 on 26 September 1918 and was buried at the Brie British Cemetery, 111 D10. He was described as the son of George and Elizabeth PITTS of Wisbech and wife of Mrs. A. PITTS of 8, Whitby Street, Wisbech.
