    John Holborn EDGOOSE was born at 36 Well Street, Sunderland U.D., on 10 April 1903, son of John Holborn EDGOOSE, seagoing engineer, and Sarah Annie EDGOOSE formerly STERLING. The informant was S. A. EDGOOSE, mother, 36 Well Street, Sunderland.

    John Holborn EDGOOSE had married Sarah Annie STERLING on 28 July 1902.

    According to George EDGOOSE, his brother John Holborn EDGOOSE used to play in Holloway Prison yard with Hilda SHARPE, granddaughter of Martha Ellen EDGOOSE's elder sister, before World War 1.

    School records show that John EDGOOSE was admitted to the Chester Road Board School for Boys in Sunderland on 31 March 1913. His date of birth was given as 10 April 1903. John and Sarah EDGOOSE, his parents, were living at 23 Croft Road. His previous education was listed as 'Juniors'.

Gladys was a 21 year old spinster of 26 Bourne Street, Easington Colliery, and daughter of William WANDLESS, a coal hewer. Witnesses were James H. EDGOOSE, and Eleanor Margaret MASON.     "WED AT EASINGTON
    The wedding took place at St. Mary's Church, Easington Village, yesterday, of Mr. George A. EDGOOSE, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. EDGOOSE, Paradise Gardens, Easington Colliery, formerly of Sunderland, and Miss Greta KEELEY, only daughter of Councillor S. KEELEY and the late Mrs. KEELEY, of Maureen Terrace, Seaham Harbour. The bridegroom is a lay reader at St. Mary's, and the bride was a Sunday school teacher at St. John's, Seaham Harbour.
    The Rev. G. A. WEST officiated at a choral service, with Councillor J. T. BROWN at the organ. The bride, given away by her father, wore a dress of white lace with georgette trimmings ands embroidered veil to match, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. She was attended by Miss Eleanor EDGOOSE (niece of bridegroom), with Mrs. A. PROUD as matron of honour. Mr. J. H. EDGOOSE (brother of bridegroom) was best man, and Mr. W. WOOD was groomsman."

    John Holborn EDGOOSE died at Ryhope General Hospital, Sunderland, on 2 September 1986. He was described as a retired market gardener of 50 Paradise Crescent, Easington Colliery, County Durham. Cause of death was Colonic Carcinoma. The informant on 3 September 1986 was his son-in-law Maurice Gordon WAKE of the same address.
