Hilda Elizabeth EDGOOSE was born at 34 Havannah Street, Poplar, Middlesex, on 13 October 1893, daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth EDGOOSE, according to her birth certificate. The 1939 Register records her birth on 27 September 1893. Her death certificate records her birth on 23 September 1894.

Arthur EDGOOSE had married Elizabeth HEATH at Bethnal Green, Middlesex, on 21 March 1887.
The 1901 census of 32 Newcastle Street, Poplar:

Elizabeth EDGOOSE, aged 34, born at Poplar;
*Hilda EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 7, born at Poplar;

The family were boarding with an Irish Dock Labourer James SWEENEY and his wife Margaret.

Her father Arthur EDGOOSE died on 29 November 1902 at 62 Galbraith Street, Poplar, Middlesex, at the age of 38.

The records of St. George, Doncaster, Yorkshire, show that Hilda, daughter of Arthur EDGOOSE, labourer and Elizabeth EDGOOSE, was baptised there on 28 October 1903. Her address was given as the the Bennett Denison Home, French Gate, West Riding of Yorkshire. There is a note in the register that she was born on 27 September 1893. That is not the date given on her birth certificate.

The 1930 and 1931 Register of Electors list Hilda EDGOSSE (sic), Flossie Irene Mabel LOW and James LOW at Ingomar, Elm Avenue, Eastcote, Middlesex.
She was living at Incona, Elm Avenue, Eastcote, Middlesex, when her brother Arthur James EDGOOSE died in 1932. The 1932, 1933, and 1934 Registers of Electors list Hilda EDGOSSE (sic) and James LOW at Ingomar, Elm Avenue, Eastcote.
In 1935 and 1936 electoral rolls Hilda EDGOOSE and James LOW were listed at 34 Elm Avenue, Eastcote, Ruislip, Middlesex.
From the 1939 Register of 34 Elm Avenue, Ruislip, Northwood U.D., Middlesex:

She moved to Welwyn Garden City in 1940 with her mother and brother Frederick EDGOOSE.
She lived at 40 Applecroft Road, Welwyn Garden City, until her death at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital there on 17 August 1970. She was buried on 20 August 1970 at Hatfield Hyde.

She was described on her death certificate as a retired housekeeper, but in 1968 Hilda BURTON (nee EDGOOSE) said that she had once been a nurse.

"This is the last Will of me Hilda EDGOOSE of 40 Applecroft Road Welwyn Garden City in the County of Hertford Spinster
1. I HEREBY REVOKE all former Wills and testamentary dispositions heretofor (sic) made by me
2. I GIVE DEVISE AND BEQUEATH all my estate whatsoever and wheresoever to my brother Frederick EDGOOSE absolutely and appoint him sole Executor of this my Will.
IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day of April One thousand nine hundred and seventy"

NOTE:
Some case files of the Beckett Denison Home for Girls, Doncaster, can be found online, searchable by date and the initial letter of the girl's first name. The home was in existence from 1901 to 1905. This home was certified as an industrial school, providing training in needlework and housework. Girls in these schools often went on to work in domestic service or in a local textile factory.
