    • NATHAN PEGG 1658 -1721

      A Nathan PEGG, s. of Daniell PEGG was baptised at Deeping St. James, Lincolnshire, on 7 October 1658. This is consistent with the will of Danyell PEGG whose wife Katherine was pregnant when his will was made on 24 September 1658.

      Nath and Daniel PEGG each contributed 0s. 1d. to the collection for the redemption of poor Christian Slaves in 1680.

      WILL of Nathan PEGG:
      "May the 27th 1721
      In the Name of God Amen &c
      I Nathan PEGG of Pinchbeck in the county of Lincoln husbandman being sick and weak of memory do make and ordain this my Last will and testament in manner and form Following Imprimus (sic) I bequeath my soul to god that gave it hopeing through the merits and mediation of my Ever-blessed saviour to find full and free Remission of my sinnes and my body to be buried at the descression of my Executrix.
      Item I give to my Eldest daughter Elizabeth PEGG forty shillings in manner of a Legacy.
      Item I give to my daughter Mary forty shillings in manner of a legacy
      Item I give to my daughter Margret forty shillings in maner (sic) of a legacy
      Item I give to my daughter Susanna five pounds in manner of a legacy
      Item I Make and ordaine my daughter Phebee my sole Executrix of all my goods and chattells within doors and without paying and discharging all Legacys and Encumbrancs whatsoever and this I publish and declare to be my Last will and testament Utterly Revoking all other whatsoever Witnes my hand and seall the day and year Above written

      I have perused this Will & am of Opinion that It is Effectual and Good in Law, and that thereby Pheebe (sic) PEGG is duly appointed Executrix thereof, & she must accordingly discharge the Funeral of her Father the Testator & prove this will (which she may do before Dr BARKER who is a Surrogate) & then pay the Debts & the Sumes of money therein particularly given to Each of her Sisters as Legacies, & then all the Goods & Chattells & Stock and other Psonal Estate of her late Father Nathan PEGG belong of right to her the sd Pheebe PEGG alone

      NOTE:
      According to Pinchbeck Parish Register Nathan PEGG was buried on 31 July 1721 which would appear to be inconsistent with the above dates. The BTs for 1721 and 1722 are missing so no check can be made there.

      NOTES & QUERIES:
      Another Nathan PEG (sic) married Lucy MIDDLEBROOKS at Pinchbeck on 9 June 1730.
      A Lucy PEGGE married William WILCOCKS at Surfleet on 16 June 1739. There is no indication in the parish register that she was a widow.
      A Sarah PEGG married Thomas STEVENSON at Surfleet on 14 June 1755.
