FRANCES CHENEY 15??-1608
From Lincolnshire Wills 1600-1617 by A. R. Maddison, Will No.32 pages 28 and 29, footnote on page 29.
"She was the natural daughter of Sir Thomas CHENEY or CHEYNEY, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, and married her distant cousin William CHENEY, son of William CHENEY of Thorngumbald in Holderness. He settled at Boston, and was buried there in 41st Elizabeth [1598/99]. From the younger son, John CHENEY of Benington, descended a family of CHENEY at Boston in the last century in trade, which became extinct about the beginning of this century. It is represented in the female line by the GARFITT and THIRKILL families, See Vistitations of Yorkshire in 1584 and 1612, ed. by J. FOSTER, pa. 148. Her daughter, Elizabeth CHENEY, had married John KILLINGWORTH of co. Cambridge, and their daughter, Anne, married Richard SKEPPER, of East Kirkby, co. Lincoln.
Mrs. Frances CHEYNEY and Mrs. Anne CHEYNEY were witnesses to the Will of George SKEPPER, gent., made on 28 September 1606 and proved at Boston, Lincolnshire, on 30 March 1607.
An index of the Will of Frances CHENEY, widow, of Boston, Lincolnshire, whose will was made on 25 November 1604.
Probate was granted at Boston, Lincolnshire, on 4 August 1608.
