Did John and Frances have a daughter Frances who was born circa 1828? According to Sunny (soettel at cox.net) Frances BATTERHAM married Thomas RICE at St. Pancras, Middlesex, on 8 September 1853. Thomas RICE was of full age, a bachelor, a labourer, living at Edward St., son of George RICE, labourer. Frances BATTERHAM was of full age, a spinster, residing at Gloucester Road, daughter of John BATTERHAM deceased. Witnesses were George SMITH and W. ?BRECKERIDGE? Later census records show that she was born in Walsoken, Norfolk.
