The Timber Firm 2146 003

THE TIMBER FIRM 1893-1995.
This old building was included when the Midland Bank in Aldershot, Hampshire, asked Walter Leeder Edgoose (1871-1957) whether he would be interested in taking over the lease of the insolvent tenant in 1933.

Walter Leeder Edgoose accepted, and sent his youngest son Raymond Thomas James Edgoose (1909-2005) to manage the new branch. Raymond never forgot to remind us that the first day's takings were sixpence for a sack of sawdust.

This old building was the former timber drying shed of the owners of the River Wey Navigation. It survived until the freehold of the premises was acquired by Edgoose Holdings Ltd. in the last quarter of the 20th century.
