A letter from P. I. KING of Northamptonshire Record Office dated 30 December 1968:
"Thank you for your letter referring to land in Quadring belongng to the 'house of Peterborough'. This rather puzzles me as if one looks at the Valor Ecclesiasticus of 1535 there are in the index to Volume IV, page 495, 14 references to Quadring but none of these refers to property owned by the Abbey of Peterborough. At that date - I notice that Quadring is near Gosberton - the Abbey was owner of the manor of Gosberton before the Dissolution, but not one of the properties had passed either to the Bishopric or to the Dean and Chapter when the diocese was founded. I have looked in lists of surviving records of manor courts owned by the medieval abbey, but I cannot see that there are any of Gosberton manor."
