Ellen Jane BENNETT was born at Northwold, Norfolk, on 8 January 1878, daughter of William BENNETT, farm labourer, and his wife Jane "late BENNETT, formerly West" of Northwold. Her mother Jane WEST married firstly John Flatt BENNET in 1868 and then William BENNETT in 1876.

According to the 1901 census of West Walton Rectory, Norfolk, she was cook to the Reverend Walter Elliott BROWNE. She was 23 years old.

She married John Lewin EDGOOSE, son of James Lewin and Emily EDGOOSE, at Northwold on 16 August 1906. John Lewin EDGOOSE was described as a bachelor and a gardener of West Walton. Witnesses were Alicia Rebecca BENNETT (her niece), Robert James EDGOOSE, and Anna DYE.

Grace Ellen EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 4, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
William Lewin EDGOOSE, son, aged 2, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
Cyril John EDGOOSE, son, aged 10 months, born at West Walton, Norfolk.

She died of cancer on 13 July 1934 and was buried at West Walton on 17 July at the age of 56. She was described as the wife of John Lewin EDGOOSE farm labourer who was present when she died.
